GARAKUTA-DOORI NO STAIN (OR: MR STAIN ON JUNK ALLEY) EPISODE 1

well. this one was made by the same people that made popee the performer. but i'm very scared of it instead of vaguely charmed by it. where to begin. i think this is mr stain. there's no dialog in this show so i'm just guessing as to the characters' names. i don't like looking at mr stain and i have to look at him for all 7 minutes of this episode's runtime there's also this long cat that wears a pink sweater. i dont know if this cat has a name. but that's fine. i like looking at him more than i like looking at stain. now i'm by no means comparing popee and garakuta except that's exactly what i'm doing. popee's first episode also introduced us to the 2 'major' characters and set up their dynamic as Goofballs that mess with each other and lightheartedly kill each other sometimes but there's no real consequences. Stain and this cat kind of fucking hate each other. badly. listen i'll just tell you what happened. stain found an egg. the egg hatched a strange fish-like creature. the cat broke into stain's house to steal the creature (and eat it?). stain defends the creature by throwing a glass bottle at the cat's head, which gives the cat a Bleeding head injury. The fish begins to EAT STAIN and he makes DIRECT EYE CONTACT with the cat with tears STREAMING down his face BEGGING for his life. (no voice acting except for Ahhh!s so it's just him staring directly at the camera PLEADING nonverbally) and we have to watch this for TWO MINUTES (!!!!!!!) WITH GLORPING SOUND EFFECTS the cat throws a glass bottle at the fish's head and this kills the fish. somehow. then the cat hits stain over the head with a SECOND glass bottle. episode ends with them cooking and eating the fish.

do i want to watch more?

i fear that i might be too close-minded to fully appreciate garakuta for what it is. what is there to appreciate? truly i do not know. the sound effects range from offputting to Stock punch sfx. the cgi models are upsetting me greatly. it was so so violent. and i just got done watching a show that's 60% torture. i felt like this was more violent than that. i did not like seeing them animate blood streaming down that cat's face. No.

SAKIGAKE CROMARTIE KOUKOU EPISODE 1

what the fuck do you mean that was only 11 minutes? i took. so many screenshots. okay. our main guy is takashi kamiyama. he's just been transferred to cromartie highschool AKA delinquent school where everyone is a delinquent toughguy beatemup man. Imagine ridiculous shit like this happening for 11 minutes. This happens within the first 2 minutes. jack: oh shit its this anime i SCREAMED when the pencil eating happened because ive seen this fucking tumblr post before kamiyama mentions twice about how he's never done anything bad Except For One Thing... but he doesn't feel like talking about it, "and viewers who are curious about it can just go read the manga." THAT'S WHAT HE SAYS. another really good gag that happens is that apparently there's this one REALLY badass, "king of the delinquents" type of student. and maybe if HE'S taken down, kamiyama could change the school forever. so, of course, kamiyama has to go and meet HIM. and this is what HE looks like. and he just stands there. and we're not even sure if he's even a student here. or if he speaks japanese for that matter. so kamiyama decides to give him a name himself. what name? ✨ Freddie.... there's also a robot delinquent named mechazawa. buti didnt get a photo ofhim so you get to have the fun job of imagining what mechazawa looks like. Nope that's not what he looks like. No that's not it either. You won't believe it.

this is like if nichijou was about bizarrely buff delinquent highschoolers. Yes i would like to watch more very much. oh i forgot about the gorilla

BOBOBO-BO BO-BOBO EPISODE 1

i think these two images help to essentially sum up the entirety of bobobo. like this is it. the year is 300X and the world is ruled by the margarita gang. and they stay in power by forcefully shaving everybody else bald to assert their dominance. bobobo (blonde afro guy) is going to destroy this organization. his motivation is that he can hear hair talk and thus has an emotional connection with every hair on earth. his father was a hair. he can control his nose hairs as weapons also. and there's a little tiny old couple that lives in his nose the first half of this episode is bobobo explaining his backstory to beauty (pink girl) through two flashbacks. and then the second half is bobobo fighting one of the hair hunters (that's what they're also called. alongside margarita gang. dont worry about it) really badly but he still manages to win there's. a lot more that happens in this episode. there's so much more. i think this is the most exhausted ive ever felt after watching something in my life. it was so much to keep track of like this is just so i took thirty eight screenshots. i dont know how to condense this. i feel like i have to go to fucking bed i just ran a marathon in my brain while watching bobobo.

bobobo im so fucking sorry i cannot see myself being engaged in the Nose Hair Man fights Bald Guys plotline for more than one episode. let alone SEVENTY FUCKING SIX????????? WHY IS MIRURO SAYING THAT IT'S SIMILAR TO ASSASSINATION CLASSROOM??? this is nothing to do with bobobo and everything to do with me. i'm not strong enough.

favorite screenshots

the artstyle is really. something to look at. the expressions are obviously the highlight of this show they're so fucking funny. it was hard for me to pick my favorites but these ones are really good the chipmunks live inside of bobobo's hair. there's a lot of parts of bobobo that are seemingly alive (such as: His Uvula has a face.) and that's fascinating and a little scary to me. as funny as bobobo is im kind of fearful that it only has the one joke. like i think bobobo's storyline as it's presented in this first episode could kinda be wrapped up more entertainingly in a OVA. which makes me wonder if there's some insane plot twist that Changes Everything? but that feels like a bigger gamble than i'd be willing to make. and again i cannot overstate how fucking draining it was to watch it felt like bobobo was actively stealing my life essence from me. like i lost some time off of my lifespan for that. and i gave it to bobobo oh whale time for overrall stats
